Paint will cover most of it, but to be honest I had a nice 96 Zaskar that was badly discoloured with some aesthetic pitting, but after 3 weeks of hard graft polishing with Autosol then Maguires, it came up like a new mirror.
The best thing about a polished finish is you never have to worry about paint chips! I would tend to favour the satin black, as a lot of the Evo's were finished in this colour and it's tougher than the gloss colours.
