8 speed on 9/10 speed hubs

Right then just about to order my new wheels have i got this right !

When ordering new wheels i also order a new block to go on new wheels i normally ride a 13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21.

So i need to order a 13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-23 block.

Then take both blocks off refit new block on with old 8 speed spacers on to new wheels.

and this will work ok

Well you're over half way...

Take off the 23 cog and use your old spacers. And between the 13 and 14T you put the thin spacer I mentioned in my post.

You also need to use the new lockring.

8s spines are a similar pattern, but less deep. as a result, 8s cogs will fit on a 9/10 body, but not vice versa.

no way to make 9/10 cassettes work on an 8s body. 8s cogs will work on a 9/10s body with appropriate spacers. however, the shallow splines will very quickly tear up the 9/10s body unless it is steel. less depth = less area to spread the load = yuck.
