10,000 miles ridden, somewhere in Uzbekistan.

Anyone who was in the Retrobike campsite at Mountain Mayhem in 2010 will probably remember Sarah and Sammy.
Sarah aka 'Thumper' rode on one of the ten person teams while Sammy aka 'SatNavSam' wasn't riding but instead generally entertained people with his guitar and his singing.

Anyway it was more or less two years ago today that they set off on their bikes with the intention of seeing the world and all the cultures and people in it.
Sammy went armed with his ukelele to busk his way around the world while Sarah packed an assortment of hats and her infectious laugh.

I'm happy to say that they are both still on the road having reached Australia and that they have no imminent plans to come home yet.

I used to meet a lot of long distance cyclists passing through Wales when i was in the trade.......some were very old....lady in her 70's who would cycle round the perimiter of each country she went to ! and an older couple on basket type 3 speeds who would cycle neary 80miles a day..........and a guy who was on the road 3 years (round the world) with just a good Ti bike a baccy tin and a thick jumper it seemed !........the best though were the german father and son who toured the UK and ? in posh shirts and trousers and posh leather shoes...ie not cycling gear......another guy round the world in his 50's who wore a blue blaser, slacks and ate only raw food so as not to attract attention to himself with a camp fire......and many more....

......i salute you all....i'd love to do it :D

Most of us are too feared to leave our comfort zones. Thankfully some folk can still be intrepid adventurers

In awe..............

much respect… i personally would not have the stamina, both physical or mental to attempt anything even remotely close to a long haul trek. i applaud any that have! AMAZING!

Something that all of us I suspect have in their bucket list but in honesty most will never attempt.

It's an uplifting thing to see though and I hope they have a long and safe journey...I am envious

I met them once on a ride when they were thinking of this, much respect for going through with it and making it to Aus! Bloody fantastic. I keep bobbing in and out of their website with much envy.

Brilliant!!
