1996 Trek 8000 SHX Singlespeed

Re: 1996 trek 8000 SHX

Was originally the bare brushed alloy you see there, seems the rear/gear cable stops have been removed from the top tube too :-(

maybe it was painted and then re-stripped, who knows. i know what you mean about the stops, it s annoying, but nevermind :?

Although, the 7500 was painted red, had indy 's' forks and alivio/sx spec if memory serves me correctly, although i wouldnt have thought it would have the brushed ally finish the same as the 8000, under its paint?

So my money is still on an 8000 SHX

I think your right fella, i found a few 1997 8000's on the internet that match this one. found an lx zx and an shx which all look the same framewise. Which one it is i dont know but il assume it is an shx. The metal has a lot of sandpaper scratches on it though which suggests it wasnt the polished version, but who knows.

The sand paper effect is the 'brushed aluminium' finish that the 8000 had from new, exactly as my mates did, and till this one popped up ive not seen another!

I doubt those are welds Sean. My old 7000 is very similar looking. it'll be bonded tubes into cast lugs, hence the smooth finishes where the welds should be. I love mine, it's a proper workhorse
