I'm just taking the highly unscientific approach of taking the xisting parts down to Argos and asking "match these, please"!

I'm sure it's as likely as any other to work! I did consider getting my own identical bike resprayed but I think it's too heavily corroded to be worth doing now... I do have a major sentimental attachment to it but when it comes to the bit I think it'll be far better value for money to buy something else.

This picture (not my bike) better illustrates the colour I want for the fork and stem. I don't know what you'd call it, but it's not silver.

Small update, Postman Pat delivered a present today. It's not strictly period correct, but it's literally the only post of even reasonable quality that I've been able to find in the correct size and silver (aside from a NOS Campagnolo Centaur in America for about $125!). It's NOS and, at £12 delivered, it'll certainly do unless something better happens along.

I dropped the frame off at Argos yesterday. Mark (every bike shop bloke I meet seems to be called Mark!) was very thorough, running through everything I wanted done from physical alterations, through decal applications and positions to colours and delivery options. I should have the frame back by late September, can't wait to see how it comes out!

Nice project and restoration, but I can't imagine to wait till late September. Incredible patience.
I just completed my Fire Mountain so I'm interested in your project. Good luck and see your Kona soon.
