For Sale 1994 (I think) Orange Clockwork

thingswelike

Retro Newbie
We’ve owned this from new so it feels part of the family, but I need the room. People on Singletrack suggested I post it on here.

As you can see it's not all original, including some pretty ugly changes to the stem and bars and it’s not the most desirable colour (it is very 90s though!).
We did the mods to accommodate a Centric Safe Haven child seat and then later the bike became an Xtracycle and my wife liked the bar position so we kept it like that when it became a commuter-bike.

I really thought I’d kept all the original bits so that I could restore it, but I can’t find them with a fairly thorough dig about in the loft 🙁
If I ever find them, I'll keep the buyer's details so I can forward them on.

The bike is in pretty good condition for it’s age but it has definitely been used throughout it’s life going through several life cycles.
A few of the paint chips are a little rusty and the orange part of the stickers is very faded. The only rust I thought looked worth mentioning is by the rear dropout show in one of the pics.

Drivetrain bearings are amazingly slick – backpedal spins for ages! My brand new bike doesn't even do that!

Size: Small. Measures 16" Center to Top of top tube. 21.5" top tube length ctc along tube

There are still some original bits:
STX Chainset
Bottom Bracket
STX Hubs
Mavic Rims
Spokes
STX Rear Mech
STX Front Mech
Deore Thumbshifters
STX headset
Seatpost
Sharks fin

Non-original bits
V-brakes
Tyres
Stem
Bars
Seat post clamp
Saddle
Sram cassette to get a wider range which doesn’t quite index perfectly with the thumbsifters.

It’s amazing how twangy this frame is compared to my more recent steel hardtails. Shame they don’t make them like this any more.

Anyway – I’m not part of the retrobike scene, so I don’t know if it’s desirable or if any of the parts are rare.

Just want it to carry on its life tbh!

Price reduced £140 collected in person. I've tried posting and it wasn't possible, sorry.

Lovely. I nearly bought one and yes that was in '94 and I think it was a '94 model year. Good luck with the sale.

I'm getting a new bike delivered in 1 or 2 weeks. So that would provide suitable packing. If it hasn't sold to someone wanting to collect by then, I'll post back on here. I don't want to commit due to not having a firm delivery date for my new bike (and also I'd have to check bike arrived ok, etc).
Hope that's ok - although you can always back out.
