1992 Marin team issue - restored and ridden

Thought I’d try a different build thread style.

Part 1- a diamond in the mud.

though it’s not mud it’s rust and grease instead

Some quality components spotted so far:

Pace outer chainring
Kool stop brake pads
Pace rc-35 - definitely need a service
Front tyre Tioga psycho II
Rear tyre bonty revolt
Xt front v brake
FIR 122 rear rim
Full xtr m900 - excluding front brake
Marin lite - saddle, bar, stem, seatpost

Definitely a project, should clean up nice though
Yeah that’s what I’m worried about, xtr will probably look good as new in a bath of degreaser. But probably in the frames history it’s had an attempt to strip the plating. I can see in spots where it’s bare metal. Might have to get it re - done. Though I’ll have a better look at it tomorrow.

With a bit of polish the saddle comes up at least presentable.

I’m not going to try and repair the tears because it’s part of the saddle’s history and the saddle is original to the bike. I will try and glue down the fraying edges though

Maybe worth a professional resto if you are willing to build a catalogue correct bike.
