As per my other post, it took me 33 years to finally get my hands on an MS Racing CR2. It’ll probably take another 33 to collect all the correct parts!!

So I’m the meantime, I’m building my other childhood dream machine. No, not a Ferrari F40, a 1992 Orange Aluminium Elite.

The MS will be a garage queen but this is getting ridden. If you can count 1 mile to the kings head as being ridden!!

The Cranks and wheels are just fitted for show so far. It’s actually going to be fully fitted with M900 XTR.

Ritchey Vantage Comp on M730/732, with Panaracer Smoke and Dart in the pic. I’ve got a pair of Mavic MA40 on M900 coming. Obviously purchased from here!! 👍🏻

The forks are Pace RC36 Evo Pro Class Limited. New decals in the post. Thanks Gil.

Ideally it’ll be getting an Answer seatpost, if I can find one. For the time being a Thompson Elite fitted with black 1992 Rolls should get it going.

Does anyone else get as much, if not more, pleasure from building them, as they do riding them?

That’s lovely! I bought mine 12 years ago on here and have ridden it ever since, but it’s looking sorry for itself, and is going for an polish and new decals (bought from Gil 11 years ago!). How are the Pace forks? Don’t suppose you can remember if these are a 1 1/8 headset?

TBF mine could do with a polish to make it A1 but it’s in really good condition as it is, and seeing as it’ll be ridden I’ll keep the wear and tear for now.

The headset / forks are 1 1/8th. 👍🏻

Lovely start and yes, I prefer building to riding the old ones.

Think this is my old one so have a headset reducer from 1 1/4 to 1 1/8th. As standard the original Elite is 1 1/4.

100% yes, the build is as important to me as riding, and the maintenance, polishing, making sure there are no creaks or noises that should not be there 🤓

I've just checked and it is the frame you sold 10 years ago.
I knew it had some retrobike heritage as it's still got the old style forum sticker on it.

It’s starting to look more like a bike now.

New decals on the RC36 limited’s. Thank you @gil_m I cannot praise his service highly enough.

M900 mechs fitted. Although there’s a lot nicer rear mech coming soon and an amazing M900 chainset.

1991 rolls saddle is the saddle I bought new 31 years ago.

Currently on m732 pedals. I’m unsure which way to go with the pedals. I’m not a fan of the M900 SPD and have never liked flats. It’s got to have tie cages hasn’t it? It’s what we did in 92.

Going with the 2022 hope QR seatclamp at the moment. The Ritchey post will be changed at some stage too. Syncros would be nice. DB35E286-5476-4D47-BC47-DB931326FE9B.jpeg
