1991 Tracker Mammoth RC201

Re:

Maybe I'll try swapping some bits around today and see what's what. Unfortunately not too non-vibrant about at the moment.

Re:

Seems this may be heading in the right direction now :D
Only needed a nip and tuck

Need to source a black stem and black seat post binder.

I'm sure someone will help and give me their input very shortly.

Nice, it looks a lot less "clown bike". Always liked these back in the day, due to the Tracker connection, being a skateboarder. Tracker's venture into mountain biking turned out to be not quite as successful as Santa Cruz's.

Re:

You might hate me for saying this. But I wouldn't have painted it. You had what seemed a great condition original pretty rare bike there. A little fettle and it would have been good to go. (got a great review in MBA when this came out, and the history of the brand made for a good read).

Re:

Actually the paint was very bad, bubbling and peeling in numerous spots. imho well beyond trying to correct it. They always had the option of special order colours as well. Not upset with the comment, I totally get the original aspect, but even back in the day I was having my bikes custom painted.

Fairplay, I don't dislike what you have done, it was just nice to see it in original paint, could it not have been smart repaired where needed.?

Re:

If it would have been the purple/black or blue/purple/black I would have been tempted to restore. The white black red fade just keeps reminding me of a skunk flattened in the road

Still just a work in progress, getting closer to something good I hope

What a lovely metaphor.

Let's try replacing that with an ice cream with raspberry sauce and a flake.

There. All better now.

Ok, a four year old thread, but need some help on the BB. I have a '91-92 Mammoth RC201 and need a BB and or BB advice! What BB are you running?
