It has been a while between drinks. I have been sitting on this frame and XC Pro groupset for a few years now and it is high time I built it up. I got the XC Pro groupset off ebay not long after posting the Haro up and the Ultimate frame with Bullseye cranks off the bay not long after that. I have slowly been gathering the rest of the parts required for the build, I still need a few items and starting this thread will hopefully give me the kick in the arse I need to complete it.

The groupset was a good score as it came complete with everything but I won't be using the wheels or cranks. It has been mounted on a bike but was taken off and hardly has any kms on it. The Bullseye cranks came to me stripped and I will be polishing them and having them chromed and polishing and anodising the spider black. I will also use the original BB as it is in good condition and doesn't seem to have any play in it. I have to build up the Bullseye hubs with the RM-20 rims pictured which are NOS.

We will start with a few pics of the cranks, wheels and groupset.

Already looking good! Now don't be a tease, where's the frame?
Your wish is my command.

As I said before the cranks came to me stripped and so did the frame. The cranks and frame have a little surface rust but apart from that they are in excellent condition. I don't know what the original colour was so I will be going with the tried and tested route of RAL 5018 turquoise. Sorry if that disappoints anyone but for me that is what the quintessential Ultimate is about.

I have had frames painted by panel beaters and powder coated by general powder coaters before and it can be a bit hit and miss. I will be sending this one off to Gripsport in Melbourne who specialise in repairing, painting and powder coating bikes. They were not able to source the RAL 5018 turquoise so I had to buy it off ebay, hopefully it is a good product, the seller's feedback rating is all good so we will see. They only sent me 1 pound when I ordered 2 and I had to wait another month for that to arrive from the States.
