Hi all

This is my friend's late husband's bike that she's asked me to sell on.

It's a time warp special having been very well maintained by her husband before he died 12 years ago. The frame measures 23 inches centre to centre with a top tube of 22.5 inches centre to centre.

Almost as new condition aside from:

- Minor pitting to chrome finish on headset adjustable race
- Braking marks to front rim
- Marks to left hand side of saddle from being lent against walls
- Tiny paint chip around the seatpost bolt
- Brake outers have a few marks
- The original hoods have rotted so I've replaced with Dia Compes which are a good fit but not perfect (NOS Suntours are around £100)

Full spec is:

Frame & Fork 1985 (frame number 591 85) Mercian “King of Mercia” 531 lugged.
Groupset Campagnolo Victory
Seatpin 27.2
Saddle Brooks B17
Stem Cinelli
Bars Cinelli with Cinelli cloth tape
Brake Levers Suntour Superbe with Dia Compe hoods
Brakes Suntour Superbe with original pads
Cables Suntour
Freewheel Sachs 6 speed
Chain D.I.D.
Pedals Specialized alloy touring without clips
Hubs 36 hole
Rims Super Champion 700C
Tyres Specialized Touring X K4 32mm
Mudguards ESGE (Now known as SKS)

Overall lovely lovely bike.

£800 - Sold

Based in Norwich if you want to have a look.

Happy for collection or I can deliver for diesel costs (25 MPG in a truck).

Can also post for cost, though best to discuss first as I REALLY don't want to damage the bike.

Re: 1985 Mercian “King of Mercia” 531

Wowzers, it looks like it's never been ridden!

Hi Harry - looks like I came across your ad just a little too late. Some very lucky new owner, what a gorgeous Mercian!!! If you hear of others who want to sell, I am in the market for a vintage Mercian, size 23 to 24" seat tube, preferably whole bike with Reynolds 531 throughout, but will look at a good frame only.
Thanks again for sharing these pix, and reminding us all, why Mercian bikes have always been so sought after..

Re:

Thanks Harry

Well if your mate ever wants to sell his new Mercian, please do put him in touch!

Have a great weekend. And thanks again.

Ray
