I was on the lookout for a gaudy but decent quality 80s frame to hang some modern components. It would be single-speed to add some variety to my rides. This Barron fit the bill, sold as a 1985 (EBay seller’s photo).
When it arrived it was actually a more vibrant yellow. In this photo I’m just test fitting some parts - I’m still amazed that modern parts will still fit on a near 40 year old frame.
The yellow BB cups were just to test the threads, they’re old ones I use to mask the threads when painting (last used on the frame in the background)
I don’t know anything about Barron, does anyone have any info? The dropouts are Columbus and it had a very worn Columbus sticker that I couldn’t read. The seatpost is 27.2mm and the frame is very light.
I photographed all the tubes with ghost decals, adjusted for skew and redrew the decals in Illustrator. I then stretched the artwork vertically to allow for the cylinder effect and cut them on my vinyl cutter.
Note these are direct copies off the frame, the awful tracking and typeface work is Barron’s designer’s work and not mine!
