Posted up briefly in the intro thread but thought I'd do a thread of its own.
I picked up a 1984 Raleigh Corsa 12 last week, it was local and in budget and rather than spend all summer searching high and low for something better/cheaper/etc I thought I'd give it a home and get on and ride it
Pickup day
As it stands this morning
Brief spec:
Reynolds 501
Shimano Golden Arrow 105 groupset
Mavic MA2 rims on Maillard QR hubs (not original)
Original SR stem/seat post/bars
Modern 6 speed freewheel 28-14T
New Stronglight chainrings 50/40T
Schwalbe Lugano 700x23 tyres
Modern Selle Italia Turbo saddle
Done so far:
Fitted Clarks cartridge brake pads as there was zero friction from those fitted
Adjusted headset, brakes and gears etc
Fitted combo SPD/platform T400 pedals off my other bike
Cheap white alloy bottle cage
Small saddle bag
To do:
Re-wrap bars with new tape with no logos as there are gaps in what's on there
Fit brown/tan brake hoods as original spec - got these already
Find a 27.0 seat post that's a smidge longer than the existing one - on the lookout for this
Switch to M324 pedals or similar 80s style SPD compatible
Would like to fit tan sidewall tyres...
Covered about 60 miles so far and it's a beautiful ride, it feels more responsive than my alloy Triban 540 and easier to maintain momentum although it is slightly heavier.
I've bought it to use it and hoping to get out on it loads over the summer
