I have an earlier Carlton Competition (which is for sale!) but your's appears to have a nicer frame than mine. Mine has the "531 butted frame tubes" sticker, which I think means the stays and forks are cro-mo. Mine also has the frame number on the dropout - I'll have a look to what it is tonight.

Very nice frame, mines numbered under the bb shell. Strange how its moved around.

Found a copy of the 1979 Carlton catalogue which describes the Competition. Also seems to be one of the only models available in Metallic Green. I've decided to move this on though, I'm supposed to be reducing not expanding! Now on Ebay
