1935 Sun Wasp

This is a lovely example of the classic inter-war British "club" machine... really outstanding and the refinishing nicely captures the rich "dipped" (and they really did dip the frames in vats of black enamel) enamel. The riding position of these machines are quite different from today's, with the rider set farther back and I think the leg position gives a very efficient thrust to the pedal stroke so these bikes can really fly despite their weight.

Plus how can you not love a bicycle called a Sun Wasp?!

To bring this story a bit more up to date, I purchased the Wasp just over a year ago... I've made a few additions to the machine since then, adding the dyno, a saddle bag as well as sourcing some SA wing nuts and replacing one of the brake levers with the correct Resilion model. Sadly Vince, who superbly restored the machine, died a few weeks ago. It was a pleasure to meet him last year and spend a memorable time talking bikes and looking through his amazing collection.
