I've just bought this from the recycling centre, on the way back from the Haldon Retro Ride, thinking it was at least a Stumpy decaled up as an S-Works Steel. It's definitely thin like a Stumpy and not a Rockhopper.

But now think it may be an S-works?!?! It's been resprayed by Argos.

There's no rack mounts on the dropouts and no brake hanger bridge on the seatstays. 1" headset and the frame number starts 92... . If it was an S-Works would it start with S92... ?

986s, SS7s, Hot Rod bar, Control Tech stem, XT thumbs, M900 XTR f/mech, XTR seat QR, etc - £10! :D

I used to have an S-Works Steel in '95 (probably a '92 / '93 model) and I've had '94 Stumpys but still not sure what this is! :?

S works or Stumpy?

Not 100% by the pics
PM me the number or at least the firast 6 numbers and letters and I will try to sort it out. If its an S works there should be an S after the 92.
Its a great buy and the size looks good ;)
If your moving it on then let me know.
If Argos painted it then it may well be an S works as Specialized were careful who they gave out genuine decals to, as they are now, so Stumpies and others couldnt be badged 'up' so to speak. Argos may even have a record of the job.
Cheers
Jamie

Thanks JD. Here's a piccy of the frame number. I'll take the cable guide off over the next day or two and have a look for an "S"! Fingers crossed!!!

Hello Mr Burgundy! Not sure on the stem length at the mo. Have you got another stem to swop for it. I haven't got any 1" quill stems at the mo. It's also a bit tatty by the way! :)
