I now have a Team Helkama - Team Power.

I know nothing and had never heard of the company..
So now I'm learning some
A reliable source (aka original I bought it off ;)
Helkama had team mountain bike and bmx riders in the 80's and early 90's, and many of the national championships were won on the Team Power and Pro Power mtb's. It's a well known bike brand in Finland/Sweden.
Team Power being the top of the range

The frame looks nice, welds look tidy.
Serial lends itself to outsourced (Axxxx...)

Take 1-1/8" headset and 30.4mm seat post.
Made from that Tange Ultimate Superlight thin stuff.

Was told 1993/1994.

Picture from source a it's still got bubble wrapped around it at the moment

My kili (in sig) is tange ultimate, although others of the year have tange prestige stickers. Either way this should ride lovely and the colour is really nice.

Be interested to know the weight once its unpacked.

Still wrapped ben?......I'd have ripped it off before the postmans pen reached his pocket!!!!.......nice looking frame by the way!....

It's for my Wife so it a 'has to work' build ;)

Frames not as light as my Kona and Altitude even though it's some 3" smaller.
Think it's was ~4lb 12oz (so ~2oz more) with some headset cups in.
Forks are 740g ish

I have lying around
M950 V's and Avid something or over levers
M950/2/3 I forget series rear and front mechs

Kalloy Uno seatpost as it came with it

Comfy Womens saddle (any recommends ?)

Taperlight bars, stem unknown but I have a syncros quill with noodle lying around so that for now. Could do with something shorter than 130 though.

Might switch for some judy or mag forks to comfort the wife....

Alivio/STX shifter with windows as I have them and they work, so 8 speed.

Wheels I mix swap them around anyway so whatever is free.

Nothing targeted and special.

Looking at the serial A4xxxx I would say a 1994 bike.

I lack working chainsets though. Bottom bracket I've just taken out UN7x is 122 would rather go for a 107/110 or 116 targeted chainset.

Hey, that backyard looks familiar :) ;)

Interesting to know about the weight of the frame as I didn't have scales to measure it with, would've thought it was maybe even lighter being Ultimate superlight and all, but the forks are pretty light.

Looking forward to the build :)

Yeah, a Finnish brand! :D
Nowadays known for their casual commuter bikes and some pretty advanced electric bikes. But BITD they had a strong race team and also titanium frames etc.

Didn't know about the titanium frames, I'm guessing they had them made somewhere else?

There was also a Helkama White Power bitd, strange miss from the Helkama marketing dep. ;)

edit: sorry for hijacking the thread.
