Hi
Can anyone shed some light on this question
I have a problem with shifting on a campag cassette (mirage)
Originaly 9-speed of which i have replaced with an 8-speed cassette,at the middle of the cassete gears it always jumps.no matter how much i adjust and re-set
i have 8-speed ergos,what can i do!!!
Any ideas

I recently fitted mirage 8 speed ergo's to my Alan cross bike,some things to check;
Is the rear mech. 8 speed?
Did you get the cassette spacing right?-width of sprocket+width of spacer=5mm.
Is the gear hanger bent inwards?
As always try the cheap easy stuff first :D

Campag advise strongly against fitting 8 speed cassettes to 9 speed hubs. The 9s hub body is alloy, and to spread the load it has deeper splines. Your 8s cogs will be digging into the freewheel body.

I suspect that your skipping problem is one worn cog, but do yourself a favour and remove the 8s cassette before you destroy the hub. If you want to run 8s, buy a 9s cassette, leave out the largest cog and use the 8s spacers.

dont 9 speed cassettes have the largest 3 cogs on a carrier which then mounts onto the freehub, ie cant separate them? I know 105 and upwards are like that
