Got the option of both, but really enjoy hammering the jumps etc on my modern machine. Guess variety is the spice of live though, so might give the Stumpy a run round Whinlatter.

Is Whinlatter single speedable as I want to test oot my GT Panterra but have no spare cash to build it up geared this month so SS is the way forward. Also is it as rocky as say Glentress or worse as the Panterra will also be in rigid mode

I recon you could SS it, but there's some big climbs so I'd gear accordingly. Majority of the trails are smooth, so going rigid should be no problem.

I'd say singlespeedable, especially with a group of varying fitness levels. Last time I rode Whinlatter was on a rigid cro-mega and I really enjoyed myself. Pretty sure i'll be riding rigid again this time too, as I don't own any suspension

Current SS gear choice is 1.66:1 but might up to 1.75:1. I never ride 2:1, I'm no race whippet and I live in the land of hills, looking forward to this
