such a shame. i found it here saturday, but still missed the close. it is really small though. not sure what i'd do with it. i came across a couple other small x's and thought the only option would be as a bmx style or jsut to have.

Yep, the under the chainstay U-brake was the earlier model, followed later by the typical canti set-up. One of the reasons the change was made, besides the advancement of componentry, is that alot of the early X's were fracturing on the chainstay behind the BB. A combination of the design and the additional force from braking.
