i like to keep things functional, and at the moment, and at my budget (i paid 40 quid for the cranks, ring, bb and bash) external bb cranks is best. I run old XTs on my lava dome, which are fine, but left side has to be tightened up quite often which is annoying. Everthing else i have is external (bar my crap old road bike).
What about the 31.8 bar clamp or 9 speed deore shifter!
