they're (whispers) aluminium. But they look the part, and they've been with the frame for at least the last 20-odd years so....
 
I thought the shoulders of the crown looked different from normal steel.

The powdercoat covers the bond seam very nicely.
 
Well aware that this thread appears high up in a google for Abilita I thought i'd share that vizual impact in Bristol does decals for them. I really like them..
