Ditto... :D
I know its off topic by a mile but whats your bmw history ?
Paul.[/quote]

Started with an E30 320i Touring, then an E36 328i sport touring, then an E39 525tds touring. Then I changed jobs and could do away with the estates and got an E36 AC Schnitzer 328i Coupe sport, and I now have an E46 330i. All have been manual and the AC Schnitzer was the most fun!

Wow thats very close to mine !
First was a superb red e30 325i ( tbmw feature car 2x ) , white e30 325 cab ,e34 530i sport, e36 328 sport ,wide body 2.8 z3 with AC Schnitzer suspension and finally the e39 530i that is bankrupting me at the mo
The first e30 was running full Eibach suspension , magnex exhaust , big bore tb , chipped , sport leather , Hartge wheels etc etc , it was my daily driver, my track day car, my drag race car and it was the most reliable car i have ever owned :D
Cheers Paul.

Re: Wookiee's 2012 Santa Cruz Highball Aluminium.

Right back on track with the bike though! So got down to finishing up the build for this beauty. Went for a Hope mix and match headset in the end which arrived this morning. Thanks to my friendly LBS I popped the frame down there and borrowed their headset press to get the cups set in the frame. Then I've spent this afternoon bolting all the components on and setting up the gears, brakes etc. Its all finished and yet to be ridden...(I'm recuperating from another operation on my back and I won't be able to ride for another couple of weeks!)

It has all the kit from the Marin...

- XTR brake and gear levers, derailleurs, chainset, BB, disc calipers and cassette.
- Bontrager RXL scandium tubeless rims with Bontrager/Fisher Control Column Hubs. Schwable Racing Ralph Evo snakeskin tyres.
- Easton Haven carbon bars, Magnesium stem and Alu seat post
- Syncros saddle
- Fox Float Evolution 29er forks with lockout
- Pedals are NC17 trekking (yes I know I still use toeclips!)

Its running on a 2 X 10 set up which works really well for the style of riding I do. I can't give an opinion on the ride yet but its 0.5" shorter in the seat tube but 0.5" longer in the top tube which gives a good ride position for me. I still need to get some mud tyres for the winter sludge and still a little unsure about the white, although it works well with the spokes and saddle...

As predicted it weighs in at 23.36lbs on my luggage scales!

All thoughts and opinions welcome

Doug

I'm pleased (relieved!!!) the headset was the right one. Looks like it doesn't come with a top cap? Wondered why the pick 'n' mix works out cheaper than the sets - maybe that's why.

I think it looks cracking (no pun intended ;)), and it's got some good kit hanging off it. Like you, I'm not completely comfortable with white, but it's generally white finishing kit that looks naff IMO, not frames. As a very small critique, try slinging on a spare black saddle, as I think that might make you happier with the white frame.

Yes thanks for the help on getting the right headset! And no, no top cap! Didn't think I would curse it with the Marin one so stuck the Cane Creek instead. As for the white frame I'm thinking of getting it powder coated...would be around £30 and a new set of decals £20...want to see how it rides first and if I like it....

Thanks again

Doug
