Hi Chaps

I have a set of accutrax forks, looks like the raised area that the crown race gets pressed onto has worn away abit so now the now i can slide on the race with my fingers. Does anyone know any tips to add more material to tighten it up? I have tried 3 different races, including a new xt one all just push on.

Cheers

Ted

Cut a strip off an AL beer can? Would be about 0.1mm thick and soft enough to comply to the round shape.

Hi,
If the forks have a metal seat for the crown race and it is loose, the best method is to go around the race seat with a punch. The raised areas will grip the race, I have not had long term satisfaction using shims.
I would advise going around the race seat twice, a few mm apart and offset the punch holes to maximise the raised area.
This is a well tried and tested method of fixing this problem.

As above, if slightly loose you can 'punch' with a dot punch around the area. The race should go on tighter.
