Thanks for your reply - can you get those replacement inserts on ebay, or just knackered mechs? If it's the latter I'd rather try to find someone with a knackered mech who could send an insert, as postage on ebay means that it generally will be about £5 min. I'd rather not spend that for a tiny piece of plastic if possible.
