97' Proflex 857

That looks like a Noleen NR4 shock with the piggyback resevoir, you should be able to have it serviced at any MTB shock servicing company eg TFTuned for example, or a motorcycle shock servicing company should be able to help, Noleen/J6 have a USA based website where they still stock these shocks and parts too.
My rear shock is also on its way out, I've been trying to look into having an adapter made to run a more common shock such as a Fox Float, which also has a bit more adjustment on it as well, other people have had adapters made so it's just a case of measuring and then having it made up.
Risse also do replacement Proflex shocks, but the cost of these or a replacement Noleen unit has put me off buying one as yet.

and if you haven't already done so, then have a good look around the Proflex/idriders forum (search it on Google), lots of good info and knowledgable folk on there :D

Thanks chaps. There is no marking on the shock to say what model it is, just the Noleen sticker and another sticker saying 'Warning - High Pressure' !!
I would be interested if you make a mod to fit a Fox or such shock, put pics up if you do!!

I was waiting on someone who had an adapter made up for their bike to get one made up for me also, but that seems to have stalled for the moment.
Currently considering my options, a rebuild of the Noleen shock would probably be cheapest but I'd like something with a bit of adjustment on it, I'll keep trying for the adapter, but if all else fails I might look at a Risse Genesis shock.

A few more recent pics, a few changes made, still rides nicely :)

ProFlex

Looks really good!

I have since bought a 2010 Specialized Pitch Pro ... but still need the shock repair on my Pro Flex. Are the repair kits on the web easy to fit or is it a specialist job?

You mean you need your shock servicing? iirc there's a company... Mick Gardener Racing or something like that (search for it on here) that do motorbike shocks but will service the Noleen rear shock for you.
I got lucky and found someone who had a small run of adapters made to allow a Fox Float shock to be fitted to the rear, I'm just keeping an eye out for a suitable shock.

For noleen servicing, google mick gardner racing. A ohlins service centre, they did my noleen nr2 for £30 (re-gas and oil) when I had a beast then a 857, which both sold on :(
