wheel worked fine when i had it on my '98 FSR, it was directly transfered over, including cassette.

it was too short originally, so swapped it out for a longer one.

try to shorten the chain then .

it gets longer as the rear end gets closer to the chainset .

chain is probably down to the lenth of an 8spd chain.

where the cable runs under the bb is a tuned lenght i built a 04 model a couple of years ago. are you using good quality cables?

try running it without the cable outer going under the bb, i.e just the bar inner going through the guides. if it still does then at least you know its not that.

Or use the stops on the rear mech to run it in one gear and disconnect the cable and try it?
I'm sure i'm teaching you to suck eggs, but no stiff links in the chains?
