I run a Chevin Research A1000 into a pair of antique Wharfdale E70's in my living room (small 3 bed semi) and believe me it can p**s the neighbours off (and not just immediate) but at sensible volumes sound sublime as long as it's loud enough to cover the cooling fans.
A friend used to have a tweaked 405 many years ago but refused to buy any decent speakers.
