Skinwall tyre recommendations ?

Thanks for all the pointers, suggestions and recommendations. Its always nice to have plenty of choice rather than just one default solution.

I eventually plumped (on price, as much as anything) for the E-bay Specialized Turbo S tyres. At £17.99 for a pair (incl postage) I thought they were worth a punt. They arrived promptly and I'm very pleased. The pair weighed 408gms, total, which took me by surprise. They were very hard to fit (on Campag Nucleon rims), but are now on. They certainly look the part. I went out for a brief shakedown ride today, but too early to give a judgement.

I've been pondering a new pair of Veloflex's for a few years (I have one (!) Veloflex and am pleased with that), we'll see how these 'lighter than intended' tyres stand up to the winter and see come the springtime.

Thanks again for your input.

David

I was going to recommend the Specializeds, had a few sets now. Not the hardest wearing but for the price they're ideal. Watch out for holes if you hit potholes / catseyes etc.

I got the same deal on Ebay for the Specialized Turbos, 19mm slicks. I got them on without too much effort with the help of some fairy liquid.

Mine have done a summer of time trials and some indoor trainer use and don't show too much wear.

spesh

I got a couple of pairs of the specialised turbos too, really nice but wouldn't like to do a roadside puncture repair, they were really tight to get on and off ( pinched a tube first attempt! )... but 30 squid for 2 pairs is a bargain. :D
