1-- I admit to never owning a bike with disc brakes
2-- passive suspension???
3-- oldest bike was 1999 and got sold
4-- But i was a bike mechanic for seven years

so heres my question, i`ve seen isis bottom brackets and know that all i need is a good old square taper 73mm shell so i bought this (FSA ULTIMAX CHROMOLY Bottom Bracket,102-70-ISO)because i`m using a single ring i thought it would just do the job,but and this is the problem the square taper is tiny and so are the holes so what is it???

from the description, could it be a 102mm axle? the shortest sheldon brown lists is 103mm for a 1996 dura-ace double.

When you fit it the BB in the frame the bearings should sit further into the cups so more axle will be visible.

What holes are you referring to, I am not sure on this point :?

the square taper is smaller overall length and width
put it this way ir would spin inside a crank
on ebay now so will get money back i hope

Yep it's the kind of thing people used on all the wannabe carbon chainsets that were made to run on Record and Chorus bottom brackets until last year....

To be honest, the Ultimax is a harder wearing BB than record (larger drive side bearing).
