i got a new scanner the other day and i'm taking advantage of some spare time to scan a few old pics.

here's a few of previous incarnations of some of my road bikes.

1st is my cougar, it has had 3 paint jobs, originally it was bought in 1995 and painted as a GAN team replica but i didn't like their mix of campag and mavic so i built it with full 8 speed record.

after this i sent it off for a respray in a homage to the Casino team, they rode colnago bike but i liked the mix of yellow and white, crappy pic though  at this point i rebuilt it with 9 speed record

after that it got a third respray by colortec to this blue/silver fade, this i really like and in this pic it still has the 9speed record on it although it now wears 10speed modern veloce and is used for nice spinning rides

i now sort of regret the resprays, don't get me wrong the current paint is lovely but i have just picked up a mavic starfish chainset and if it was still in original colours i could have done a fantastic GAN replica. oh well

can't seem to get them to post the right way up!!! tried turning and resaving but doesn't seem to make any difference . . . bum . . . . turn your screen upside down!!!

now the coppi, hopefully these will post right!!

it's a 99 i think, fausto coppi galaxy, original retail on the frame was £1200, i never used the original fork as i went straight for the mizuno carbon alp d'huez fork. i built it with full record 10 speed then added the cosmic wheels.

after a few years i had it resprayed by fatcreations in a pearl white and it's an awesome job, the pearl is great but you can't really see it in this pic.

currently this frame is not built although i'm thinking about a rebuild ;)

it must to do with how i originally scanned them . . . will pay attention on the next lot, mtbs coming in another thread but they aren't scanned yet.

now my giant mcr

got this from the giant rep as an ex team harrods bike, it had been sat at colortec for years uncollected as that harrods team went pop! i built it with the record 9 speed. i hated the harrods colours though! so i had it reprayed by colortec again and then built it as a TT bike.

sorry!! i think it was because i scanned them upside down but then i rotated them and resaved them but strangely i reloaded them upside down to make them the right way up (you following this?) but still they were upside down! but when i look at them on my laptop they are the right way up :? so i resaved again but it just doesn't seem to want to know!! :x :x

anyway, it was just a little example of evolution of the bikes :)

i got the cougar coz i was a boardman fan, then the coppi as a friend had the model below and i really liked it, back then we looked the part, we both wore the italia kit and rode coppi's so we sort of matched when we went out for a ride. cool times, wish that mate would get back into it, he has a coppi K14 with 9 speed dura ace, an f.moser leader ax with new success, and a pinarello prince with 10speed dura ace and also a box of the 25th anniversary groupset hidden away that i sold him a few years ago that is as yet unused. he hasn't ridden a bike properly in maybe 5 years :(
