why the is there a half inch gap between caliper and forks

Yeah I read this, thought about reading a sarcastic comment and then resisted.


Explanation and or pictures please.
 
need some info = what forks and calipers are you using ? and as said already a pic would be cool :D
 
sorry fellas right its a magure julie caliper on to stratos fr4 forks .when i put the caliper on the the disk then try to bolt it to the forks there is a big gap like theres a spacer missing .. hope this helps :oops: :oops:
 
yep - probably spacers needed ;)

I have a mix of widths and use them according to the gap. It's one of the worst jobs on a bike :evil: (maybe I just need to get a gap tool).
 
What type of mount is it (IS or post)? Is it because you're running a rotor that's larger than intended?

When you say 1/4 of an inch gap. In which direction? If the holes in the caliper are on the same line as the ones in the fork just add spacers to fill in the gap. If the caliper is set back from the fork leg an adapter will be needed. Could defo do with a pic as its not an easy thing to explain.
