Council Strikes Again - You couldn't make it up

"The positioning of this safety rail obviously looks unusual, but it was to try and stop people from sitting on the bench, and walking in front of it too, as this is an area of the path that is particularly unstable and likely to collapse"

Ahh but the article explains that the path is closed and people shouldnt be walking on it, nor using the seat in question, so that has been done deliberately to prevent anyone causing the collapse of the weakend section of path, and or injury to themselves or others!

So, instead of doing a proper job and removing the bench there and then (which they have said they will be doing eventually), they just stick a railing over it instead. Just another example of a lazy council doing a half-arsed job. Reminds me of the pictures you see when they paint double yellow lines around parked cars instead of having them towed away!

If people are still able to access the path (which they are), then some will, regardless of warning signs advising them not to. The council could have solved the bench problem by ripping it up, but someone made the conscious decision to do this instead. The railing had to be put up anyway, so it really does just seem like they couldn't be bothered to take the bench up while they were there.

You now have somewhere to rest your forehead :D

One wonders if this is not the work of what is effectively model council employees :? Willing to get the job done no matter how bizarre or nonsensical
