1989 Diamondback Ascent EX (Sort of Frankenbike)

Following on from Raidan's Christmas raffle (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=313457), the old Diamondback has been frankenbiked into a single speed drop bar CX type mountain bike thingy. Mainly from bits lying around.
It works and lives.

Good to see the karma has been utilised.
I was going to mention the stem looks low, usually you see drop bar MTB's with high rise stems fitted. But looking at the seat height it doesn't look out of place at all.
Have you tested it off-road yet?

I'm the aforementioned builder, it actually rides really nicely as pictured, its hard work through the twisty stuff but flies up and down fireroads.

First ride out was a few days ago, I overtook a couple and just heard them exclaim "What the?!" as I went past. Counts as a success in my book.

@Jimo, the height is perfect for me, all my bikes have a bit of a drop to the bars, but slightly shorter would be nice for singletrack. (Also high rise stems look awful).
