Here's the current state of my 96' Blizzard (previously owned by RockiMtn)

I had first built it up with a rigid fork and black Deore LX group but since have decided to make it more modern since I have aquired enough rockies that have the stock rigid fork.

Here's the specs so far
- Mavic Crossmax SSC ceramic wheels
- Panaracer Fire tires
- XT 8 speed cassette
- XT shifters
- XT front mech
- XT rear mech
- Race Face Turbine Crankset
- Race Face bottom bracket
- Race Face Turbine headset (new generation)
- Avid Untimate Levers
- Control Tech V-Brakes (thanks Frank!)
- Fork will be a black Atom Bomb (currently getting steer tube lengthened)
- Flite Ti saddle

Here's the parts I'm having trouble with... Bar, Stem, Seatpost... some of the below are pictured

Option 1:
Thompson Seatpost
Thompson Stem
Race Face Flat Bar

Option 2:
Race Face XYO Seat Post
Race Face Deus CNC machined Stem
Race Face Flat Bar

Option 3
Race Face XYO Seat Post
Race Face Turbine Stem (new model)
Race Face Turbine Stem (new model)
(This requires me to step up to 31.8 bar which may look too new...)

Suggestions?? Opinions?? Let it rip!

Hahaha I knew you would say that... It's too bad Race Face doesn't make nice CNC seat posts like Thomson =(

Re: 1996 Rocky Mountain Blizzard - 15th Anniversary Build

Thomson post is SOOO boring compared to the RF XY seatpost.

Re: 1996 Rocky Mountain Blizzard - 15th Anniversary Build

hahaha... well.. I think the fact that I went ahead and bought the Race Face one from you yesterday is a good indication of how much I do like it ;)

Just having a hard time deciding :D

Re: 1996 Rocky Mountain Blizzard - 15th Anniversary Build

Looks sweet, but I have to say thomson is timeless like syncros. I love the way they look. The XY is fun and funky but way too much setback for me.

Re: 1996 Rocky Mountain Blizzard - 15th Anniversary Build

Thanks! The Syncros is considered to be zero setback but it does seem
have more setback than the Thomson

It's a tough call, but the Thomson is just a way better built post so it just feels so nice

Thx!

Re: 1996 Rocky Mountain Blizzard - 15th Anniversary Build

Looking at that again I see that that XY has less setback than the one I have. I didn't realize you could get them close to zero offset. Very nice indeed. I still like the thomson better though and don't think it looks out of place.

Re: 1996 Rocky Mountain Blizzard - 15th Anniversary Build

Yup, they are all tricky to find though =)

I'm going to have to think on it

I'm still on the look out for a Race Face Deus CNC stem in 120, 6degree.. Thomson one is nice but Race face might match the bar better

I like the new turbine stem however not too keen on going to 31.8... And the turbine stem maxes out at 110

Kind of funny this was the shortest syncros made!
