This one has been a long time in the works... finally got to painting it and assembling all the bits...

it's a 1992 Vertex (the only steel Vertex i believe)... it came black but I repainted it in it's original sapphire colour. It should have an M730 group buy M900 is just sooooo much nicer =)

I was not originally a fan of the Gold Mavic 230 hoops but when paired with the gum walls they look pretty retro cool! I tried to blend them in nicer by putting gold chainring bolts and Crank o Matics on the M900 crankset...

It would have been built by now but I have had trouble with the headset... first off the crown cracked... ugh... and now there are not enough threads... ugh... I'm only 1-2mm short so I'll need to get a mm or so faced off the frame... no biggie.. just a delay...

I already have the decals for everything (Syncors stem / fork, Frame, XTR crank arms, ect,) just leaving them till last

The shifters are actually pretty rare ones... M910 with window... the pods are an upgrade to the M900 ones which at times cracked on the bottom...

I'll have more pics soon... hopefully in a couple days

Re: 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

Tell me you have decals going on the frame?
Great ingredients for a stunning bike there though.

Re: 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

Yup! All the decals are here in my desk drawer ready to go =)

I'm waiting until it's 100% built and ready to ride before I apply them =)

thanks! Hopefully I will get the headtube faced tomorrow so I can finish it off later this week

Re: 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

Stack height of the M901 headset is 34.3mm. You could take a Tioga Avenger CR with a stack height of 31.5mm and maybe the saved 2.8mm gives enough thread?

Thanks!

Well... my mechanic suggested that... but I just really like the matching XTR one :D

Re: 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

Update... got the headtube faced... started the build but I need a narrower BB... I had a 113 in there but I need 107, I just ordered it...

In the meantime I decided to polish the surface of my Ringle skewers... much better =)

Re: 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

Great looking bike, that blue is mesmerizing on that frame and is a great color to contrast the gold. Looking foreword to seeing the finished product.
