Hi, I`ve recently acquired a 1996? Marin Bear Valley or Bear Valley SE Cr-Moly Frame to build a singlespeed, as you will see this frame is far away from being in good shape, has some dents and the paint is in a very bad condittion so I must start to collect information for the repair and restoration work.
If anyone out there has a bike/frame similar to this one please send me detailed images of every decal on the frame because I´ve searched the web and couldn´t find this model in this particular color scheme. Thanks to all of you.

I maybe wrong, but I'm fairly sure that's a 94 if you're going to respray it I would take lots of pictures of the decals and if the headtube badge is removable take it off and re use it. Gil_m is the Guy to speak to for replacement decals

I have a 95 team Marin lovely ride

I've had a few bv's and bv se's and was going to ask ... What makes you think it's a bear valley demian?

The guy that sold me the frame told me it is a bear valley, and I can see what it appears to be bear valley decals on the horizontal tube. If it is not a bear valley what else it can be? I guess i need more help than Ithought.

Looking at the '95 catalogue the BV and BV SE appear to be different shades.. But i think Marin's had the same tube sets up to the Eldridge Grade. One way to be sure is to check the frame number under the bottom bracket, but i wouldn't worry bud my '93 Palisades Trail has a Bear Valley indentification number.

Serial number ?

But t's not a 1995 or a 1996 Bear Valley or BV-SE
and the tubing did change,
Also anyone using the number codes, remember that is the codes relative to that year, not the 1994 list posted on this site.

The serial number on the frame is the following:

F 44BA021 8

Also there are two more numbers across: 40 19

anyone who can throw some light on this mistery marin?

The F is interesting, normally they are M, but Fairly (F) did make Marins as well

Anyways

Fxxxxxxxx
Fairly place of manufacture

x4xxxxxxx
Eldridge Grade - level of frame (need to check but Bear Valley SE uses same frame)

xx4xxxxxx
1994 manufacture (so either 1994 or 1995 model)

Colours all wrong though to what we are used to (I have a 1995 BV-SE just behind me)

the rest is largely irrelevant
