Kona Explosif 1994 restoration

Hello,

There was more than two years ago when i found this combo here in Spain: Kona explosif 1994 frame + kona control center headset + rock shox mag 21 + velocity stem + shimano xt 737 front deiralleur.

Sadly, the frame was in bad condition with bubbling paint, several rust in some parts, mainly in the seat tube and one dent in the top tube. :cry:

Frame needed to be restored.

First step was to remove the paint in the rust parts. I applied a chemical product, the spanish Oxino, to delete the rust and to protect the frame.

After that, frame had to be repainted. My main worry was to achieve the original colour and decals. Original decals was almost impossible so i got one set from ebay.uk

For the painting work, i contacted to my friend StarTrek. He did a great work with the frame:
-Remove all the rust, the paint and cleap up the frame and steel tubes
-He repaired the dent in the top tube
-He obtained the same, i repeat, the same colour as the original one
-He put the decals and gave to the frame a protection shine coat

So, what could i do with this frame? what components would suit this classic steel?

The fork i think that has to be the rock shox mag 21. Stem and headset will be kona velocity and kona control center.

What else?
