Just finished building this up for the NW ride at Rivington tomorrow. It looks far better in the pictures than it does in the flesh, it suffers badly from a fair bit of surface rust and poor paint work.

It will eventually be a future project but I wanted to get the feel of a fairly original bike. Its built up with original kit with these exceptions, 1993 M560 LX groupset, a USE post, an Avocet saddle, Profile bar ends and Specialized tyres.

I'll let you know how it gets on after the ride.

Looking good Mr sinnett are you going to do a full strip and
repaint on the frame? also whats the between difference between
92/93 LX groupset.

Looks like a good 'un Mark. Still want an estay 'stars

92 and 93 LX were loads different Kaya. That's when it went from a budget XT/DX with big old canti's and shifters to the XTR lite with the black finish. Really wanted 93 LX bitd.

Looking good, Mark...  and the great base for what I'm sure will be another epic Sinnett project.. ;)

Especially liking the offset of the black groupo...

Always nice when you get a chance to re-own your first bike (or more specifically, mtb ;) )

Cheers guys, really looking forward to giving it some hammer tomorrow. As I say its a bit of a rust bucket and the photographed side is definitely its best. I'm planning on a full respray once i've traced the decals for Gil to make repro's.

As Brocklanders says the '93 LX was a big leap forward as it was based on the successful M900 XTR from '92. Originally the 1992 cro-mega LX had a 500LX groupset, but as you did bitd I soon upgraded mine choosing the '93 LX.

Looks lovely and full-fills my like for slightly different rear ends. Looking forward to seeing this in the flesh tomorrow.
