play in cassettes?

hi all. got a newish rear hub and its got play in the cassete alread. its a cheap no name one but came on a branded bike. anyway is abit of play ok? gears seam fine ect just wondering if other hubs get play with use( cheaper ones ) thanks

Perhaps the cassette locking isn't tightened properly, or has come loose?

Buy yourself a locking tool and check, they're only cheap. Just slot it into the cassette locking and tighten it up using an adjustable spanner.

sorry had a blond moment lol, was ment to be freewheel/hub cassete is fine on it but the freehub wobbles about a 1mm or so

Could be that the freehub is a bit loose. I had one that became loose - tightened it up - problem solved

Some freehubs do have a degree of play. Especially ones that run on a bush rather than bearings. Cheapo hub *could* be one of those with a bush.
