Disc brake noob here...which brake for a Storck Rebel Carbon

Hi, just a question here about disc brakes.
I'm a bit of a noob on this since I've always used canti's or v's.
Now I've bought a 2005 (or something) Storck Rebel Carbon frame from a local chap here. A very nice frame but it's disc brake only. I knew that ofcourse, but now I'd like to build it and I really don't know what brakes to look for.

There's a set of Hayes Stroker Carbon brakes mounted at the moment but they're very scruffy and very well used.

Idea is to make it a light and useable bike, so no wallhanger or blingbling bike. I've allready got xtr 970 shifters, mechs and a chainset so that's sorted. But no wheelset and no brakes.

What would be a suitable combination of hubs, rotors, calipers and levers for this bike?

Any ideas very much appreciated, thanks

Great frame...always loved the Storck stuff very top end bike porn!

This is what I was running back in that era...super light wheelset.

I was XTR M970-972 and using Avid Elixirs they were just epic brakes for the time. briefly I ran Hopes but...(Hope it fits, Hope it works, Hope it Lasts)...didn't run them for long, Hayes are just garbage brakes suited to Halfords bikes probably avoid anything from back in ther day.

If you want to go period correct I would go for Avid Elixir CR...if you aren't retro ocd then something like modern SLX would be better than anything you could buy back then for not a lot...wouldn't go above 160mm rotors.

Re:

The worlds your oyster really, just depends on how spendy you want to get.

Rotor size I'd aim for 160 at the back, 180 up front which is pretty standard. Bling floating and colourful or stainless.

Wheels follow same formula really, cant go wrong with hope hubs and a rim of your choice.

Re:

Yay another storck. I've got an older bandit. Klein built alloy frame. As ishaw said really. Mines running hope wheels with mavic rims and hope brakes. Im using minis on mine but yours is a little later so you could get 4 pots on there. Cool bike
