I know it's nothing special - I'm mainly posting because I know you guys will talk me out of it...
...The thing is it's local(ish), cheap(ish), needs a bit of love... so ticks three important boxes. Add to that my ongoing hunt for a half-decent retro hybrid and it becomes quite appealing. Oh, and I have a bit of a thing for low-end Daweses.
What do we know about these? Were the frames built in birmingham? It has a union jack on it! And from what, I wonder? Looks like it says AM-1C tubing? Who knows what that is?

They made a Synthesis with Reynolds 653 and full XTR.Its the biz.Love Dawes.Great bikes.

yep... not sure about XTR but they deffo came with XT and LX.
501 and 653 frames were both fillet brazed, and pretty nice.
I'd be happy with fillet brazed 501... the one posted in the OP looks more like a (welded) far-eastern frame to me...I'd guess it's later than the ones in the brochures below but 300LX is early 90s so hard to tell...

There was a mint totally original one on Gumtree 2 years ago,looked to be unridden and as good as nos,top of the line 653 with full M900,he wanted £750 though...
