96 ?

I would guess later than 96, see cable routing on toptube which indicates the bike as pre 96 and also the decals

No it's a 97, with the top tube routing for the front mech (they were down tube for both mechs up to 96 and went all top tube from 98 onwards).

I have asked the seller about the blue rear end and whether there is a mech hanger. Quite a few of these suffered snapped drive-side dropouts and were repaired. I guess the original-owner ones would be put back to original spec under warranty (work done by Argos Cycles), but this looks more like a cut-price repair. At least, judging from the very sketchy pics provided.

he says the mech hanger is still there, so it can be converted back to gears, but the blue is paint. I don't know why you'd paint the rear of your bike blue like that, unless it had been repaired.
