I came across this at the same 'jumble' as the RTTC Handbooks. My friend had 'liberated' a large stack of assorted brochures from shop that was closing and this, along with several other 'interesting' ones I have loaned for scanning.

Hopefully this will assist in determining the provenance of Raleigh frames at the time when they were possibly at their most interesting. If anyone has anything to add then please do!

As there are 4 pages I'll do 2 posts.

Here are the next 2 pages.

If anyone would like a scan please contact me. I do have larger versions which could be used in the 'Brochures' section.

Excellent find!

That must be the first year for 653, note the older frame sticker design; the later one is more plain.

Apologies for raining on your parade Ned, but it is not an SBDU brochure.

What it is is a Lightweight Unit (Nottingham) brochure - only the back page relates to the SBDU.

I have a genuine SBDU brochure* which as far as I am aware was only available from Ilkeston - which is where mine came from.

For the record (fiks) 653 was introduced in 1986 and superseded 531Pro.

Roadking.

P.S will post a few pages if any interest.

Ah, yes, I see that now

Perhaps I should have read it a bit closer, I saw the magic letters 'SBDU' and rushed into print. I've amended the heading accordingly.

OH, and yes please to your brochure offer.

I'll post the front page shortly.

And the rest - when I have time - on a new thread.

Rk.

Trying to download my SBDU brochure -"file too big".

I'm slightly puzzled what to do next.

Front page only for now.

Genuine SBDU catalogue.

Catalogue cos it isn't glossy - quality work needs no promotion.

Roadking.
