Thinking of going 7/8speed instead of SS... so.
- What's the best 7/8speed ratio to plump for?
- To save buying a new wheel/cassette - can i retrofit a more modern 8speed wheel to a '92 Dawes i found on Sunday, which would've originally had a 7speed cassette fitted to an Exage hub i think; or are the axel/frame widths different at all; thus screwing up the wheel/stay alignment?
NB - Just found out this should be ok, correct?
- can i use a 9speed XT short cage mech for shifting duties with an 8speed Acera shifter?
Do 8speed systems get more chain-slap than 7speed as a rule; as there doesn't seem to be much evidence, if any, on these stays?
Wanna avoid the slap as much as possible as i really am in love with the paintjob.
