Here are some detail photos and build specification for my 1984 Claud Butler Majestic, frame number 058569.
This bike was my part of a two bike restoration project with my son, I would do something to this bike & he would repeat on his, lots of fun and my lad certainly has caught the bug!

Re: 1984 Claud Butler Majestic.

Excellent!

I especially like that you kept the center pull brakes. Apart from their braking qualities I find they also work very well visually on tall frames.

Re: 1984 Claud Butler Majestic.

Thanks non-fixie. I'll try the flipping of the seat clamp idea on this as well as I've now changed the seat for a slightly more comfortable but still white widder one (I couldnt comfortably ride more than 5 miles on the other and walk at the end of it!)

Re: 1984 Claud Butler Majestic.

A very nice restoration.
It just sits right, very understated but each detail finished perfectly.

Thank you Jamie, your praise is very much appreciated!

Now then, after two mad builds for themed RBotM,s (Jubilee Special 40’s-50’s & Super Coureur 60’s-70’s see links below in signature) I thought I might try a more leisurely crack at the 80’s-90’s.
As she stands, my 25.5” majestic Majestic is an imaculate specimin (if I do say so myself) but never really a show stopper of a lightweight.
Of course these Holdsworth built bikes weren’t marketed as “racers” back in the day, more as “tourers” so that’s going to be the challenge; to set this Majestic up with catalogue correct ESGE silver mudguards, a chrome CB rear rack and correct saddle.

I have another reason to do this, if I set this up as a tourer and use it as an all weather/winter bike, I might have a better chance of convincing the wife to let me keep the Super Coureur (I’d promised to sell it on completion)

Right, let the hunt begin!

The seat and seat post look like they've been stolen off another bike.

If theres an 80's themed readers wives, you'll be up against the 1986 Japanese tubed Elswick Staaaaag

Ah ha! See I knew there would be some proper competition in the next themed readers wives, pretty sure it’s going to be 80’s-90’s in October.

Ps I do like those bar end changers.

Dura Ace 9spd, works very well with the old mechs - it keeps the original look with a sneaky drivetrain that is a pleasure to use rather than a chore
