Classiclightweights tells you what is required. Get a complete cable with a suitable barrel one end. It appears the the cable is clamped in to the lever. Also fit some sort of in line adjuster.
I would not like to trust this in serious use. The cast part of the lever could be subject to fracture, and the performance of the alloy pressings is totally unknown.

I retailed Bantel mudguards back in the 50/60s.

Thanks for the response. I'd seen the classic lightweights article and read about the 'revere' cabling and the poor performance. Will let you know how I get on. Sounds like they are destined for light 'show use' use only.
