Simplex gear levers

I have a NOS 8s synchro C Record groupset fitted to a Basso Astra but the Synchro levers are better at missing gears that selecting them. Switching them to non index makes no difference.

Does anyone have a set of Simplex levers (with the hole in the middle) that are in excellent condition?

Just curious, if the Campag levers in non indexed mode don't work, why would the simplex retrofriction be any different? Something to do with pull ratios?

Campag levers poorly hold gears as the spring in the rear mech is too strong for the friction of the levers. Therefore you end up dropping down the block which is a mighty pain when climbing.

Smplex levers have a spring mechanism within the lever which offers much more resistance to movement.

Here you go...
There is a little bit of surface rust on the screw part, more one side than the other and in the screw slots themselves. I’ve not worked too hard to remove this so would probably improve. Tried to photo it but most of what you see is reflection, not rust!
These are the version without the Simplex lettering, which I believe were made into go with Mavic set-ups.
Other than that these are pretty nice and happy to post UK for £35 ppg.

Edit to say ... I’ve not disassembled for a good clean - just grabbed from the garage!

Thanks for the info on your Campag gear levers, every day is a school day as they say. I'm used to the bog standard non indexed levers from the 70's lol.

Which version are you after?

The tear drop version as per the photos above is exactly what I am looking for. I have managed to find a nice pair on ebay tonight.
