Powder coating and bonded aluminium

I've got a bonded aluminium fork that I've had powder coated. It's subsequently occurred to me that this may not have been the best move. I've put 15-20 miles on the bike and it felt ok but now I'm trying to sell it and can't in good conscience if I think it might not be safe.

Anyone got experience in this regard?

No experience, but I'm not sure it would hurt the fork.

As I understand it, the prep is similar to painting. It is sprayed on with a charge applied to attract the powder. It is then baked to flatten the finish. In terms of a bonded joint, baking won't affect it unless it's above about 120 deg C.

Re:

1. Identify the fork.
2. Determine the adhesives and alloys were used to manufacture it.
3. Check that the bake temp of the powder coat will not degrade the adhesive or the heat treatment (if any) of the alloy.

Piece of piss mate
