Cold setting / respraying frames in the North West

Hello again - two slightly related questions.

1) A friend of mine has a Raleigh 531 frame from the 80s (I think it's a Road Ace, or maybe a Record Ace) and wants to widen the rear forks to make them accept a modern 10-speed Shimano 105 setup, but he isn't confident about cold setting the frame himself, and to be honest nor am I. Can anyone recommend a frame specialist or LBS that would do it for him?

2) Can anyone recommend a frame restorer / resprayer in the North West? Atlantic Boulevard look expensive, although I hear good things about them. Bob Jackson in Leeds appear to do it for £100 a frame, has anyone used them? Of course there's the cost of getting over the Pennines, so if there are any recommendations for someone closer to home I'd love to hear them.

(I've used Stockport Powder Coating before, and they did a good job on a frame for just £45, but this would be more of a proper restoration job)

Re:

I can recommend Atlantic Boulevard. To be honest Bob Jackson didn't seem to be any cheaper 4 years ago but I dont know about others.

Here's a couple of frames they did for me.......................

Lovely. How much did those set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

Just had a quote for full monty at BJ. Barber pole lug lining and return post under £300

A few years ago they were £450 a piece. Chroming of that quality is expensive remember. I see BJ is £220 for the rear end and £115 for the forks if you want that sort of thing.

Is Keighley too far?

Shaun

I wouldn't say so. Bob Jackson are in Leeds (I think) and I'd consider them...

It was Chris Marshall I was thinking of, ex Pennine / Whittaker and Maplebeck
